Literary Nonfiction Workshop: Writing About Home

Saturday, January 12, 2019

In honor of Peachtree City’s 60th anniversary, author Hannah Palmer will lead a writing workshop at Peachtree City Library with the goal of producing an anthology of personal essays that capture the essence of Peachtree City as “home.” The idea is to capture a diverse range of voices and memories that tell the story of this special place. These essays could include: memoirs of growing up in, moving to, or starting a business in Peachtree City; oral histories of newsworthy moments, iconic events, or lost places; profiles of local personalities and why they matter; ghost stories and tall tales; nature writing, food, arts, and cultural criticism about the city. Please note: Beginner and experienced writers are welcome. It is not necessary to have an essay written before the workshop, just a good story. Note: Cost of workshop includes a working lunch and a copy of Palmer's book, Flight Path: A Search for Roots Beneath the World's Busiest Airport (Hub City, 2017).
