Monday WASA and Thursday City Council Meetings Cancelled

The Peachtree City Water & Sewerage Authority regular meeting for Monday, July 3, will be held on Monday, July 10, 6:30 p.m., at the WASA offices (1127 Hwy 74 S).  The July 6 City Council Meeting has been cancelled, with the next regular meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 20, at 7:00 p.m.  Council will also hold the next Budget Workshop on Tuesday, July 11, 6:30 p.m., at City Hall.  The public is welcome at all these meetings.

Saturday Afternoon Dragon Boat Practice Returns July 15

In conjunction with the Peachtree City Rotary Club Dragon Boat Races and International Festival in September, there will be Saturday Dragon Boat crew lessons and practices on July 15, August 12, and August 26. The boats will be loading at 12:45 p.m., 2:15 p.m., and 3:45 p.m. for about an hour on the water.  The public is invited, whether you plan on entering a team in the September Festival or not. The practices will be at the All Children’s Playground and Picnic Park behind the Library at Lake Peachtree. There will be a $5 per person fee per training session that covers all paddles, life jackets, boats, and instruction. Wear boating clothes, sunscreen and "wettable" shoes. All skill levels welcome -- no experience necessary. Open to everyone (ages 14 and up). 


Volunteers Wanted - Water Guardians Lake Peachtree Clean-up on July 15

The Fayette County government will host the next Water Guardians lake cleanup at Lake Peachtree on Saturday, July 15, 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Seeking volunteers with kayaks or canoes, plus those who wish to walk the banks to help cleanup.  Pre-registration and waiver required – please email name, daytime phone number, contact email address and t-shirt size to WaterGuardians@fayettecountyga.gov 


Please arrive by 7:45 a.m. at the Battery Way boat dock parking lot off of Peachtree Pkwy S and bring your waiver, life vest, sun screen, and a hat. Each volunteer will receive the new 2017 Water Guardian t-shirt at sign-in and will be provided a trash grabber, trash bags, and bottled water. The liability waiver sent to all volunteers MUST be completed in order to participate. This also applies to previous volunteers.  Lunch will be provided after the clean-up.


Lake Peachtree is July 15 at 8:00 to 11:00 am, lunch included.  They need to send their name, contact information and t-shirt size to waterguardians@fayettecountyga.gov (“like” the Fayette County Water Guardians Facebook page for full calendar).



Summer Sign-Ups Underway

  • Walter Reeves on “Lush Lawns & Pretty Pansies for Fall” on August 1 -  The Fayette County Extension Service will host expert gardener, TV/radio host, and author on August 1, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., at the County Complex (140 Stonewall Ave W, Fayetteville).  Cost is % per person.  Registration underway now, and seating is limited.  RSVP to uge2113@uga.edu or 770-305-5412 X 7 with the name(s) of those attending and a phone contact.  Registration not verified until fee has been paid.
  • Peachtree City Inline Hockey League Introduction Event for ages 4 – adult - Thursday, June 29, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m., at the Kedron Rink.  Ages 4 and over (through adult) are welcome to come learn the basics of hockey while playing in your shoes (sneakers or closed-toe – no sandals or flip-flops).  This is a family event, and the league will provide water, ice pops, and fun!  The event is free, but signups are encouraged at Kedron Fieldhouse or online at www.peachtree-city.org/recreation

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS & TRAFFIC ADVISORIES


NuLink Fiber Installation – Wilshire.  NuLink will be returning to Wilshire neighborhoods beginning June 26 to complete their installation of fiber in that area. 


2017 Street Paving Underway - Peachtree City’s contractor is now at work on the roadways that will be paved at this summer: Adell Ct, Bentwood Ct, Bluegill Tr, Bush Clover, Brooke Wood Dr, Crosstown Ct, Deergrass Tr, Gray Plum, Lanyard Bend, Pale Ivy, Primrose Path, Raintree Bend, Raintree Hill, Rockspray Ridge, Sage Blue, Southworth Ct, Summer Brooke, and Summer Pt.  Residents on these streets will receive a flier as the time for their paving approaches.  On paving dates, please remove all vehicles from the roadways (no on-street parking) and prevent irrigation systems from activating.  For a map of the paving projects, visit http://www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?NID=360


Lake Peachtree Spillway Replacement:  August 2017 - June 2018. More information, including the lake lowering schedule, available at http://www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?nid=1123  

AGL Vintage Gas Line Replacement – Cameron Trail Area – Atlanta Gas Light is replacing the vintage pipeline along Cameron Trail and in the neighborhoods of that area.  Grass in the City-owned right-of-way along the roads will be restored as the project draws to a close.  Residents of the area should expect to see signage or receive notice hangers as the work approaches.  Work may also reduce roadways to one lane for limited amounts of time (with a flagger provided for traffic direction).

Coweta-Fayette EMC Right-of-Way Maintenance – Coweta-Fayette EMC will be performing vegetation management along rights-of-way in Peachtree City over the next several weeks.  Vegetation management is necessary for the safe provision of electrical service. If you have questions about the vegetation management program, please contact EMC at 770-252-7402.


Highway 54/MacDuff Parkway Projects in 2017 include two projects on the March 21 SPLOST (intersection improvements at MacDuff Parkway and Planterra Way); GDOT repaving from Fayetteville to the Coweta County line, and the completion of the MacDuff Parkway extension and the CSX Bridge (anticipated in fall 2017).  More information at http://www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?NID=1134

Recycling – The Peachtree City Recycling Center (off Highway 74 S at Rockaway Road) accepts yard waste and e-waste and is open on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Recycling Stations at Public Works are open 24/7 and include a used book drop. Update Your HOA Contacts – Peachtree City is asking local Homeowner Associations to update their contact information. Please email officer names, phone numbers, email addresses, neighborhood web pages or social media pages, and management company information (if applicable) to info@peachtree-city.org . Peachtree City uses this information to contact nearby communities when issues of possible interest may be coming up. The information will NOT be placed on the web site unless requested.

Recycling – The Peachtree City Recycling Center (off Highway 74 S at Rockaway Road) accepts yard waste and e-waste and is open on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Recycling Stations at Public Works are open 24/7 and include a used book drop.
