Peachtree City Run-Off Election – Early Voting Next Week

Peachtree City will hold a run-off election on Tuesday, December 5, for Mayor and Post 3 Council Member Post 3:


  • Mayor:  Vanessa Fleisch (Incumbent) and Eric Imker
  • Post 3:  Harold Logsdon and Kevin Madden


Early Voting will be held at the Peachtree City Library ONLY, Monday, November 27 - Friday, December 1, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  There will be no voting on Monday, December 4, and voters who vote on December 5 must go to their regular polling place.  Verify your regular polling place at https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do


Absentee Ballot applications must be mailed, emailed, faxed, or presented in person to the Fayette County Elections Office in Fayetteville.  (download application at http://sos.ga.gov/index.php/Elections/absentee_voting_in_georgia

Facility Closings this Thursday & Friday

All City Offices, including the Library, and Kedron Fieldhouse, will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, and remain CLOSED on Thursday & Friday, November 23 & 24, on for the Thanksgiving holiday.  The Library and Kedron pools and gym will reopen on Saturday, November 25.  The Peachtree City Mulch Center on Rockaway Road will be OPEN on Saturday, November 25.

Fire Department Christmas Trees Delivered Today

The Peachtree City Fire Department expects the first delivery of Christmas Trees today at Station 81 (Paschall Rd at Hwy 74 S). The Fraser Furs, ranging in size from 5’ to 10’, will be available daily.  Proceeds will help the Volunteer Firefighters Association provide classes, equipment, and training for the Fire Department. 

 

Click it or Ticket and Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend:

Friday, November 17, marked the beginning of the national Thanksgiving “Click it or Ticket” campaign that runs through November 27.  During all of 2015 nationwide, a total of 22,441 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in crashes, and nearly half (44%) of them were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Proper seat belt use reduces the risk of fatal injury to front seat passengers by 45 percent and the risk of moderate to serious injury by 50 percent.  The Peachtree City Police Department will be participating in this campaign and be increasing their focus on these violations over the holiday weekend. Buckle up, designate a sober driver, obey the speed limit, and don’t text and drive.

 

Tickets Available for Peachtree City Wine Festival 2018

With the success of both the Peachtree City Hops & Props and the Wine & Warbirds events this past year, the Peachtree City Convention & Visitors Bureau is offering an early option for tickets to the Wine Festival on Saturday, March 10, at the Dixie Wing Museum (2100 Echo Ct., Peachtree City).  Learn more at https://www.freshtix.com/events/peachtree-city-wine-festival-2018

 

Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on December 9

The Peachtree City Recreation Department will be hosting a one-day Ultimate Frisbee tournament on Saturday, December 9, at the Peachtree City Athletic Complex (PAC). Open to men and women ages 15 and up (15-17 year olds need signed Liability Waiver from parent). Registration fee of $20 includes a jersey.  Sign-in starts at 8:00 a.m., and jersey sizes distributed first come, first served. 

 

Players must register individually but can ask to be 'paired' with another participant on a team by registering under the separate ‘Frisbee - Pairs' link with the name of the other player. Organizers will do their best to keep 'paired' players together, and will put together teams based on skill level of participants.

  • Pre-Tournament Clinic: All participants are welcome to participate in a 'Ultimate Frisbee Clinic' on Sunday, December 3, 2:00 p.m. – dark, at Riley Park to help new players in particular hone their skills ahead of the tournament.

Peachtree City Airport Authority (FINAL WEEK) - The City of Peachtree City is currently accepting applications to serve on the Peachtree City Airport Authority, which owns and operates Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field.  The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27. To serve on the Airport Authority, applicants must have lived in Peachtree City for at least 6 months. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS & TRAFFIC ADVISORIES


Utility Work in Rights-of-Way.  AT&T has obtained encroachment permits to work throughout Fairfield and along MacDuff Parkway.   NuLink is continuing work in the rights-of-way installing fiber optic lines.  Work this month will include Kimmeridge and Crescent Oak.  AT&T will be doing a big project in the Lexington Circle area over the next two months.  


UPDATED!!! Lake Peachtree Spillway Replacement - August 2017 - June 2018.  This week (November 20), an additional two feet of water will begin accumulating in Lake Peachtree now that the bypass pipe for the cofferdam and construction area have been completed.  This could take up to two weeks, depending on rainfall, but should provide visible (if not very deep) water in the majority of the lake for the remainder of the spillway construction period.   More information, including the lake lowering schedule, is available at http://www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?nid=1123

  • Path Detour now in effect – NO TRESPASSING!! The spillway construction zone path detour is now in effect and the “No Trespassing” signs will be enforced. The map at http://www.peachtree-city.org/DocumentCenter/View/10447 shows the alternate routes path users will take until the spillway construction zone is cleared.  Automobile drivers on Fishers Luck are asked to use extra caution and reduce speed in the coming months due to the carts sharing roadway.

The book combines local history, vintage photography, and poetry, bringing to life the journey of mill workers through the eyes of a teenage laborer, Lindy Lee.

Jingle Bell Trail 5K/1-Mile Fun Run - Saturday, December 2, at Peachtree City Elementary School.

Hometown Holiday – Saturday, December 2, 5:00 p.m.  The fun begins at the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater with musical performances by Dance Contempra, Peachtree Wind Ensemble, Creative Learning Studios, McIntosh High School Singers, and The Cartpath Chorus.  After the show, hop on your golf cart and follow Santa through the Luminary Trail for the lighting of the tree and more holiday fun at City Hall Plaza. 


Fayette Humane Society Christmas Tour - Sunday, December 3, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The tour features five beautifully decorated homes, and local food vendors will also be showcasing their talents. Tickets are $30 and are available at the office of Harry Norman Realtors (120 Peachtree East Shopping Center, Peachtree City).  All of the proceeds from this event go to the animals being cared for by the Fayette Humane Society.


2018 ENCORE Preview/Planning Session – Thursday, December 7, 10:00 a.m. – noon, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church (152 Antioch Rd, Fayetteville – Beltram Hall).  Attendees will learn more about the 9-week ENCORE leadership program for active retirees, area newcomers, Human Resources specialists, seniors, job seekers, community leaders and others interested in becoming more engaged in Fayette County. Recycling – The Peachtree City Recycling Center (off Highway 74 S at Rockaway Road) accepts yard waste and e-waste and is open on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Recycling Stations at Public Works are open 24/7 and include a used book drop. Burn Permits Required – Outdoor burn permits are required for residential yard debris burning. Visit www.peachtree-city.org/burn to obtain permit for the day of burn (page is updated daily to reflect whether weather conditions allow for burning on that day).

“My Community Officer” Program – The Peachtree City Police Department’s “My Community Officer” program pairs officers who have volunteered to serve as individual points of contact with each neighborhood in Peachtree City for questions or issues on police related issues. Please email officer names, phone numbers, email addresses, neighborhood web pages or social media pages, and management company information (if applicable) to info@peachtree-city.org . Peachtree City uses this information to contact nearby communities when issues of possible interest may be coming up. The information will NOT be placed on the web site unless requested.

Recycling – The Peachtree City Recycling Center (off Highway 74 S at Rockaway Road) accepts yard waste and e-waste and is open on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Recycling Stations at Public Works are open 24/7 and include a used book drop. MedReturn Prescription Disposal Program – Citizens can bring unwanted prescriptions to the PTC Police Station Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (NO needles/sharps, syringes with needles, thermometers, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, personal care products, empty containers, inhalers, medical equipment, liquids, creams, or hydrogen peroxide).
