Planning Commission Meets Tonight

The Peachtree City Planning Commission will meet on Monday, November 13, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall.  The agenda includes the landscape plans for Rinnai (103 International Dr.) and Golf Rider (112 Huddleston Rd.), and the façade for the Bank of America building (500 Northlake Dr.).  The public is welcome.  The complete agenda and packet are available at www.peachtree-city.org/planningagenda



City Council Meets Thursday

The City Council of Peachtree City will meet on Thursday, November 16, 7:00 p.m., at City Hall.  The public is welcome.  The agenda includes a public hearing on renewal of the Multi-Family Rezoning Moratorium.  The public hearing for the variance at 102 North Cove will be continued to December 7 at the request of staff.  The complete revised agenda and packet are available at www.peachtree-city.org/councilagenda



Kedron Gym CLOSES FRIDAY, November 17 – 26

Planning for the 2018 ENCORE Program On December 7

ENCORE is a 9-week leadership program for active retirees, area newcomers, Human Resources specialists, seniors, job seekers, community leaders and others interested in becoming more engaged in Fayette County. If you might be interested in this informative, educational class, please join us for an ENCORE cookies and conversation on Thursday, December 7, 10:00 a.m. – noon, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church (152 Antioch Rd, Fayetteville – Beltram Hall).  Those attending will receive $25.00 off the $175.00 ENCORE registration fee.  For more information, visit www.fayettefactor.org

 

 

Volunteers Needed!

Peachtree City Airport Authority - The City of Peachtree City is currently accepting applications to serve on the Peachtree City Airport Authority, which owns and operates Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field.  The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27. To serve on the Airport Authority, applicants must have lived in Peachtree City for at least 6 months. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS & TRAFFIC ADVISORIES


UPDATED!!  Utility Work in Rights-of-Way.  NuLink is continuing work in the rights-of-way installing fiber optic lines.  Work this month will include Kimmeridge and Crescent Oak.  AT&T will be doing a big project in the Lexington Circle area over the next two months.  


UPDATED!!  Lake Peachtree Spillway Replacement - August 2017 - June 2018.  Work is underway, and the mouth of the spillway has been widened, the cofferdam has been completed, and the old spillway has been removed.  Lake Peachtree, which was lowered by eight feet to begin with, will be raised back by two feet once the by-pass pipe is completed.  More information, including the lake lowering schedule, is available at http://www.peachtree-city.org/index.aspx?nid=1123

  • Path Detour now in effect – NO TRESPASSING!! The spillway construction zone path detour is now in effect and the “No Trespassing” signs will be enforced. The map at http://www.peachtree-city.org/DocumentCenter/View/10447 shows the alternate routes path users will take until the spillway construction zone is cleared.  Automobile drivers on Fishers Luck are asked to use extra caution and reduce speed in the coming months due to the carts sharing roadway.

Master Gardeners Lecture: "Growing Hostas in the South" – Tuesday, November 14, 10:00 a.m., at The Bridge Community Center, 225 Willow Bend Rd.  Join Harold McDonell as he discusses this beautiful shade perennial.  Harold is a member of the American Hemerocallis Society, Daylily Society of Greater Atlanta, American Hosta Society, Georgia Perennial Plant Association, and the Georgia Hosta Society, for which he serves as Editor The Georgia Hosta Notes newsletter.  This event is free and visitors are welcome.


Peachtree City Convention & Visitors Bureau Meeting – Wednesday, November 15, 9:00 a.m., at the CVB Offices (244 City Circle, Suite 2000 B).  The public is welcome. 


Fire Department Christmas Tree Sale – The trees arrive at Station 81 (Paschall Rd at Hwy 74 S) on Monday, November 20, and will be available daily – Fraser Furs from 5’ to 10’, varied pricing.  Proceeds will help the Volunteer Firefighters Association provide classes, equipment, and training for the Fire Department. 


City Offices, Library, and Kedron Fieldhouse CLOSED for Thanksgiving – Thursday & Friday, November 23 & 24. 

FSS Presents: Deck the Halls – Wednesday, November 29, 1:30 – 3:00 p.m., at The Gathering Place (203 McIntosh Tr.).  From decorating your mantel to trimming the tree, learn tips and tricks for getting you home ready for the holidays from resident designer Amy Epperson.  Amy will share some of her favorite design tips to make sure this holiday season is one to remember. Meet the Author:  Kimberly J. Simms – Thursday, November 30, 6:30 p.m., at the Peachtree City Library.  Join Ms. Simms for a reading from Lindy Lee: Songs on Mill Hill, book signing, and history discussion. The book combines local history, vintage photography, and poetry, bringing to life the journey of mill workers through the eyes of a teenage laborer, Lindy Lee.

Jingle Bell Trail 5K/1-Mile Fun Run - Saturday, December 2, at Peachtree City Elementary School.

Hometown Holiday – Saturday, December 2, 5:00 p.m.  The fun begins at the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater with musical performances by Dance Contempra, Peachtree Wind Ensemble, Creative Learning Studios, Lisa Kelly Singers & Dancers, McIntosh High School Singers, and The Cartpath Chorus.  After the show, hop on your golf cart and follow Santa through the Luminary Trail for the lighting of the tree. 


Fayette Humane Society Christmas Tour - Sunday, December 3, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The tour features five beautifully decorated homes, and local food vendors will also be showcasing their talents. Tickets are $30 and are available at the office of Harry Norman Realtors (120 Peachtree East Shopping Center, Peachtree City).  All of the proceeds from this event go to the animals being cared for by the Fayette Humane Society.


Fayette Visioning Summit – Friday, December 8, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., at Crowne Plaza Atlanta SW – Peachtree City.  Rob Parker, president & CEO of Pinewood Forrest, will be the keynote speaker, and the first part of the Summit will highlight successes in the four key areas, Community, Economy, Education and Place, and share the county's status on the 12 key performance indicators.  Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and a continental breakfast will be available. Recycling – The Peachtree City Recycling Center (off Highway 74 S at Rockaway Road) accepts yard waste and e-waste and is open on Wednesdays, 1:00 – 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Recycling Stations at Public Works are open 24/7 and include a used book drop.
