2017 Project 3: Intersection – Crosstown/Peachtree Parkway

Status: In Progress

Project Number:

Category: Roads

Location: Crosstown @ Peachtree Pkwy.

Proposed Project Year: 2018

Original Project Budget: $550,000

Project/Goal Description: Crosstown Rd. serves as an East/West arterial roadway serving the Braelinn Village retail center, many residential neighborhoods, and as an alternative connector to HWY 54 and Fayette County. The average daily traffic at the intersection exceeds 10,400 vehicles per day. The intersection lacks adequate right turn lanes. During peak hours, the intersection of Crosstown and Peachtree Parkway often becomes congested. To alleviate traffic congestion, the project will add two right-turn lanes on Crosstown Rd. (eastbound and westbound) to enhance traffic flow during the peak hours of the day.

December 2022 Progress Update:  The City has contracted with an engineering firm for this project and is currently in the design phase.  This project has some unusual challenges due to the number of utilities in the right-of-way that need to be moved.
